Card 1 of 4

Welcome the comparison

'Smart. I'd do the same. Here's what to ask them so you're comparing apples to apples.' Then write down 3 specific questions.
WhyTrying to block the comparison reads as insecure. Welcoming it + framing it makes you the standard.
Card 2 of 4

The 3 questions to write down

1. What's your warranty on parts AND labor? 2. Who pulls the permit, and is it included? 3. Will you provide a written scope with the proposal? Most contractors fail one of these.
WhyThese three filters knock out 70% of low-bid competitors. Your competitor either lies or admits they don't do these — both work for you.
Card 3 of 4

Mention what the comparison will likely reveal

'My guess is two of them will be cheaper but won't pull the permit. One will be more expensive. Yours is probably going to come in somewhere between.'
WhyPredicting their experience earns trust before the experience happens. They'll come back to you because you were right.
Card 4 of 4

Don't ask 'when will you decide'

Instead: 'when can I clear my schedule for you?' Subtle reframe — assumes the choice is when, not if.
WhyDecision-frame matters. 'When will you decide' makes them think about deciding. 'When can I clear' makes them think about starting.
