Card 1 of 5
'Let me think about it' = trust gap
Don't counter the words. Ask: 'what would you need to feel 100% sure?' Listen to what they say next.
Why'Let me think' is rarely about thinking. It's a polite no, usually trust. The real objection comes 30s after the deflection.
Card 2 of 5
'That's a lot of money' = budget shock
Don't discount. Ask: 'compared to what?' Quiet. Wait. Their answer tells you the real anchor.
WhyPrice means nothing without context. Their anchor — Home Depot? Last contractor? Imagined number? — is the actual negotiation.
Card 3 of 5
'I want to get another quote' = comparison anxiety
Say: 'good — here's what to ask them. If they can't answer these 3 questions, you're comparing apples to oranges.'
WhyDon't fight the comparison. Frame it. You become the standard they measure others by.
Card 4 of 5
'I need to talk to my spouse' = decision-power signal
First time meeting? Both should be present. If only one's home, reschedule WITH the absent one. Don't pitch a one-out-of-two.
WhyPitching one decision-maker is a 30%-conversion ceiling. Both = 60%+. Reschedule isn't a loss, it's a 2x.
Card 5 of 5
'Can you come back?' = stall
Polite 'yes'. Then: 'before I go, what's the one thing that would make today's yes a no later?'
WhyFuture-self objections are easier to surface than now-self ones. Get them on tape before you leave.
